Music was definitely a part of my childhood. I was a Cheetah Girls and Hannah Montana addict. I was obsessed with the idea of being on Disney Channel and basically being Hilary Duff. I wanted so badly to be a singer/actress on Disney. I know, it's embarrassing. I mean, I was born in '96 and had mostly been a tom-boy so by the time I hit about 7 or 8 girl world kind of took over and I just loved all that girly stuff. So, without further adieu, I present the music of my childhood. Enjoy!
This Is What Dreams Are Made Of - Hilary Duff
This song was my jam. If you don't know what this song is, you should probably turn back now. I mean come on, The Lizzie McGuire Movie? Paolo? Isabella? Gordo? How can you not love it? She has a doppelganger who is an international popstar! I remember seeing this for the first time in the movie theater and it was probably the most amazing thing my little 7 year old self had ever seen. It was simply magical. I mean, that is what dreams are made of.
Cheetah Sisters - The Cheetah Girls
We're are Sisters. We stand together. We make each other stronger that ain't ever gonna change. Yeah. I just recited that from memory. I know the dance moves too. In first grade this movie was my life. I even made t-shirts and had a Cheetah Girl Club. Yeah, I was that kid. But, the leopard, coordinating jumpsuits, fabulous hair, and singing. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that? I know I did! (and still secretly do...)
Breaking Free - Troy and Gabriella (High School Music)
I hope no one had to look in that parentheses to know this song. This was the first song I probably ever felt emotional about. It's beautiful and my ten year old self just couldn't handle it. Even at 16, Zac Efron was a stud. I will just admit. I know every lyric and dance move to every movie that they came out with. No shame, no shame...
See You Again - Miley Cyrus
Que the Hannah Montana phase. Woo...this was a rough one that lasted a while. I mean this was prime Nick Jonas and Miley time. You know who she's singing about. Yeah. You know.
Why Not - Hilary Duff
Why not? Take a crazy chance? Do a crazy dance? This was my anthem when I was 8. It was incredible. I know every word. Again, no shame.
Year 3000 - Jonas Brothers
This was the first Jonas Brothers song I ever heard. It was love at first sight. I loved, and I mean LOVED them. My walls were covered with posters. My Yahoo IM profile picture was of Nick. Oh my gosh, Nick Jonas. (*whispers*I still love you!)
Get Back - Demi Lovato
Ohhh...this was a rough phase. I remember it so clearly. I listened to this song on repeat constantly. Demi brought out my edgier side and I was honestly obsessed with her.
Potential Breakup Song - Aly & Aj
OH MY GOSH I LOVED THIS SONG! I still do. It's just good! I loved them so much it was ridiculous. Posters, pictures, clothing line, purses, etc. I was insane. Literally insane.
All my love,
Hailey
