Gilmore Girls Brainwashed Me

    Hello, Lovelies!
One of my favorite shows of all time is the epic Gilmore Girls series. I never use the word epic, so you can tell I'm being very serious here. This show is one of the wittiest and most drama filled TV shows I have ever watched.
Lorelai Gilmore, the charming and flirtatious mother, along with Rory Gilmore, the shy and caring bookworm daughter are combined together to make one unstoppable burrito eating, coffee drinking mother daughter duo. How could that not make a good show? The mother daughter dynamics and hilarious small town setting make it impossible to stop watching.
I would like to think that I became the person I am today without imfluence from pop culture and entertainment. But, I have to say, Gilmore Girls brainwashed me. Here are a few examples how Lorelai, Rory, and I freakishly share some characteristics.
    1. Coffee. - If you have seen at least one episode of Gilmore Girls you would know that the two of them are addicted to coffee. This is a trait I happen share with them even though I started drinking coffee way before I ever saw an episode. But Gilmore Girls definitely encouraged me to drink more coffee.
    2. Eating a lot of food. - Rory and Lorelai eat. A lot. Like constantly. In society today it's frowned upon when a woman eats a burger instead of a salad, or shoves fries in her face. Gilmore Girls taught me to be proud of my eating habits so I can proudly say, "Yes, I have eaten an entire pizza by myself. Yes, I have eaten an entire family size Stouffer's frozen mac and cheese. By myself. Yes, I have eaten a Big Mac in under five minutes. Yes, I do have at least three restaurant's numbers programmed into my phone. Yes, I have gone back for fifths (plus rolls) on various holidays."
    3. Using movie quotes in every day conversation. - Often times movie quotes or inside jokes make up about 70% of my everyday conversation. This is something Rory and Lorelai both do. It's so funny and witty! It's awesome! I'm proud to say that I do this. The only problem is, I do it a lot. Like all the time. So if Morgan or Hailey aren't around I don't think people understand what I'm saying, and I pretty much just end up talking to myself.
    4. A crazy cool mother daughter relationship. - Lorelai and Rory have a great relationship. They are best friends, and that's pretty awesome. I'm pleased to say that my mom and I share a great relationship too. We are best friends, and we like hanging out with one another. This of course isn't all due to watching Gilmore Girls together, but it's nice to see that moms and daughters really can have a relationship where you are friends too.

Most of the time people think brainwashing is a bad thing. And it can be. But in my case, I think it might be an ok thing. Liking coffee, eating lots of food, having humorous conversations, and hanging out with my mom don't seem to be bad things. In fact, I think it's pretty cool. :)

    Xoxo,
    Kayla
